Thanks to our conference partners:
This one day professional development opportunity is designed for teams of Pre-K to 12th grade classroom teachers, arts specialists, teaching artists, principals and superintendents who will experience, observe and create arts integrated lessons using Common Core State Standards and principles of Universal Design for Learning. Attendees will experience a model lesson created for inclusion classrooms and piloted by a team of teachers that can be adapted to fit any grade level.
Through group work, reflection and open discussions, attendees will leave with a list of creative strategies that will provide all their students with an opportunity to deepen learning and nurture 21st Century Skills. Universal Design for Learning
This module provides an introductory overview of the critical features, foundations, and use of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). The module provides background information from the learning sciences that shows how UDL can address learning variability, as well as support expert learning strategies across the neural networks associated with learning. To interact with the module:
1. Register for CAST’s free UDL Studio learning design environment.
2. Go to the WSI UDL module.
Continuing professional development for teachers and administrators follows the summer institute. In the fall and again in the spring, retreats provide instructional processes for integrating arts experiences into the curriculum. Continuing education unit credit is available for teachers(CEU) and administrators(SEMI) as well as opportunities for networking with fellow professionals in a professional, state of the art conference environment.
